Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates on bilateral political consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates hereinafter referred to as the “Parties”;

On the basis of the relations of traditional friendship existing between two countries and people,

Desiring to develop and strengthen friendly relations and cooperation,

Trusting that cooperation and mutual understanding between them will contribute to strengthening the international peace and security,

Realizing the usefulness of conducting the regular consultations at various levels between two countries on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interest,

Adhering to the goals and principles of the Charter of the United Nations,

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

Parties will conduct regular bilateral talks and consultations to discuss all the aspects of their bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. These talks and consultations shall include all political spheres within the framework of bilateral relations, the global political evolution, regional and international conflicts and disputes, and reinforcement of the positive role of the UN and other international organizations to solve the disputes and the problems faced by the international community.

Article 2

The consultations shall be held within the framework of this Memorandum one time a year at the senior official’s level in both Ministries alternately in Abu Dhabi and Dushanbe whenever the need arises.

Article 3

The two countries’ representatives to the UN and other international organizations shall act in the spirit of constructive cooperation for the coordination of their actions and for the consultation regarding all the issues of mutual interest.

Article 4

Parties will act for the coordination of their positions towards the raised topics for further discussions at the regular and emergency international conferences through the special consultations in this regard.

Article 5

The date of consultations and their agenda shall be determined through diplomatic channels by the mutual agreement.

Article 6

This Memorandum of Understanding shall remain in force for the period of five years from the date of its signing and shall be automatically renewed for the successive period unless terminated by either Party giving a written notice six months prior to the expiration of its deadline.

Done at Dubai on 17/3/2016, in two equally authentic original copies in Tajik, Arabic and English. In case of divergence in interpretation or application, the English text shall prevail.
