Political relations

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain were established on May 20, 1995. Bahrain is one of those countries that in the 90s. recognized the independence of Tajikistan.

Since October 19, 2018, Bahodur Sharifi has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Bahrain with residence in Abu Dhabi.

On May 27, 2014, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. A fruitful meeting of the Head of Tajikistan with the King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Oli Khalifa regarding cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields took place.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan was awarded the high state award of Bahrain “Al Kilod al-Khalifi” (royal order), and the King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Oli Khalifa was awarded the Order of Ismoili Somoni, first degree.

Bahrain’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim Fazlulbuainayn took part in the eleventh meeting of the Ministers of the Dialogue on Cooperation in Asia, which took place in Dushanbe on March 29, 2013, during which the head of the Bahrain delegation met with the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain took part in the Fifth Meeting of the Heads of the CICA Member States in Dushanbe on June 14-15, 2019.

At present, the basis of bilateral legal relations is 8 documents of cooperation in various fields.

During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, a Business Forum was held with the participation of more than 200 entrepreneurs and business circles of the two countries.

On November 28-29, 2019, Deputy Minister of Culture of Tajikistan Muzaffar Davlatzoda took part in the opening ceremony of the historical center “Zuvor Tariq al-Lu’lu” and in the extraordinary conference of ministers of culture of the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) in the capital of Bahrain – Manama.
